The Make a workbench course is design for the amatuer woodworker to make their very own bench tailored just to them.  Take away the bench as a flat pack to reassemble at home.  Although a vice is not included, Jon will give you full instruction on how to fit it should you want this.  The Course is a three day course.

The course will start at 9am and finish approx 4pm, please bring a packed lunch or you can visit the Hop Pocket restaurant for a cooked meal should you want it.  Tea & coffee will be provided.

You will learn on the course

  • How to draw and work with rods
  • Timber preparation by machine
  • Mortice and tenon joints
  • Cutting joints using a router
  • Draw boring
  • Gluing up components
  • Setting out spirals

         £300.00 per student including all materials

Tools required

Tri Square, chisel 1/4 , 1/2, 3/4 & 1 inch chisel, tenon saw, cutting guages, mortice guage, wooden mallet, sharpening stone(oil water or diamond) No4 smoothing plane or no5 jack plane, cordless drill, 300mm ruler, a marking knife and a router.

These tools can be hired for £20 for the duration of your course.


Please wear sensible shoes preferably toe protected boots/shoes/ trainers.  No trainers or sandals.  Long hair must be tied back.  This is for your safety and needs to be adhered to.
